Basketball - Jack

We went to watch Jack and his team play this evening. Jack is showing some promise and his team had a convincing win.

He had a couple of shots for goal and although he missed this penalty it is not going to be long before these shots are going in.

His Fan Club had a short meeting at the end of the game.  Bushy flew down from Sydney to watch!

Raining Again!

It's late November, it has been cool and damp for weeks and there seems little prospect for improvement in the short term.  However the garden is loving it!

Sophie Goes Birthday Shopping

We took Sophie shopping for her birthday.  Easy as falling off a log!  All she wanted was a white iPad Mini and the first place we walked in had them available at the lowest price we had seen.  It all took about 10 minutes.  Following our exertions, we needed an ice cream for sustenance (or should that be iCe cream?)

Basketball - James

James had a good day with his team today against Balwyn.  Although the Vikings were the stronger team on the day, there were a couple of periods where they looked like they may get into trouble.

James  put on a strong performance and goaled.  It was a good game to watch.  Jack came along to pick up a few tips as he is playing Monday nights.

Cooper and Lachlan Visit

The boys came to play today.  It was Cooper's last day at the Transition Program so he had to take time out at school.  The highlight appeared to be playing sport.

Lachlan stayed with us to look after Granny and play trains.

Travis Turns 40

We were pleased to attend Travis' 40th birthday last night.  It was held in the cellar of a little bar in St Kilda that was discovered when the owners decided to renovate.  It made a great little function room.

Basketball - Pat

Pat must have taken his vitamins this week as he came out firing and ready to play.  He was grabbing the ball and moving it down the court in ways we have not seen for some time.

He had a great game and was instrumental in setting up a number of goals.  He even demonstrated a few moves we had not seen before. 

The boys crushed Eltham.

Basketball - James

James' team met another Bulleen team this week.  Thankfully they were only half the size of the team they met last week.  It was an exciting game to watch as they were relatively evenly matched with the Vikings going down by a point in the end.

As usual, James enjoyed being in the thick of the action and getting up close with the opposition. Good to see the boys playing at least one non contact sport!

Eco Engineers

Cooper and Lachlan spent a lot of time developing a full ecosystem in the family room.  In order to get the photo, Pa had to stand in the swamp with the crocodiles, and they posed in the jungle on the other side of the ocean.

Sophie's Birthday

To celebrate her birthday Sophie and her friends had a party unlike any I had seen before.  The girls all sat around a table mixing up ingredients to make cosmetics.  There was no running around using the containers as guns or water pistols - it was all very refined!

 Sophie had a great time and the girls all went away with samples of their work.

Basketball - James

It was a tough gig for James this week. Bulleen were a very strong team and some of them were huge.  James spent a lot of the match aggravating the team giant No 12.

We were pleased to see James could run!

Basketball - Pat

After romping away in the first half, it became a close game during the second half.  Pat's team pulled ahead in the last few minutes.

Cooper Transits

Cooper continued his Transition Program today. He is now a seasoned pro.  He took me in to sign in, found his name and told me where to sign, then he collected his own Name Tag and headed out and was lined up in his group well before I arrived.  Don't know why I bothered going!

Halloween

We found the answer to Halloween preparations.  Small battery powered pumpkins purchased in a novelty shop are the way to go!

It Is Getting Warmer

As the weather warms up the pool is starting to come into it's own.  While the more mature citizens may find the pool a little cool, the younger  ones found it just right.  The roof mounted solar heaters collect a serious amount of energy.

Landscaping Continues

Over the last week or so the bobcats have been working to contour and stabilise the wall at Donvale and set the yard up for the planting of an orchard.  A lot of dirt has been moved and some very heavy rocks have been put in place.

The contours make the yard work well and the holes have been dug for the soil to plant the fruit trees.

You would not want to be doing this job by hand!
