We Head Into The Scrub

We have finally started our long planned trip to some of the coastal areas of NSW with Graeme and Rhondda.  We made it as far as Yass on the first night.  Passed a few rain storms so we will hope the weather does not impact on the trip too much.

Birthday Banquet

On the recommendation of many family members, we headed for Simons Peking Duck Restaurant for the Birthday Dinner.
It did not disappoint. The duck was a taste sensation, the noodle dish was great and the soup was exactly what was required at the end of a largish meal.  We are not hungry. Big tick from these critics.

Pat Makes the Squad

Pat has been having real success with his swimming lately.  He tried out for the squad last night and was immediately invited to train with the team.  Two nights of training and a weekend competition. Just as well Kate and Adam have nothing to do at the weekends!

Mum K Battles On

We visited Mum K today as part of Claire's Birthday jaunt.  She had a good night so was in good spirits.  You would never know the troubles she has.  I do not want to have what she is having!

Jack's Team Romps Home

Jack played Basketball against the Vikings tonight. It was in a hot stadium and at the end of the day the boys looked worn out but that did not stop them beating the opposition 24 to 2.  Jack had a number of shots at goal without success.  However he did set up a number of goals and did some good defending.

Reunion

Its happened again!  We met up with the old group from our early 20s and they all seem a lot older now.

Birthday Boy

We celebrated Mitchell's day with a shopping trip.  First stop was Jacar for a couple of electronics kits and some reference material and then on to EB Games to pick up a copy of Diablo.  All bases are covered.

New Bikes

The legs have grown a little long for the old bikes so Jack and Cooper are now the proud owners of new conveyances.

Netball - Ebony

It was the perfect day for Netball, cool and cloudy so we went to see Ebony in action.  As the team is learning, the Coach is rotating them through all the positions and today, Ebony was Goal Keeper.
She is very focused on the ball, she was constantly moving into position and (in our humble opinion) was the best player in her team.
The hard work payed off with a win.

More Change

My Grandmother's (100 year old) barometer signals that it may rain.
After 100 years it still seems to be working. Outside, the storm moves across the sky.

Seasonal Change

Mornings are cooler, sun is up later so shadows are longer.  I like it!

Basketball - Jack

After a game to forget last week, Jack's team came up with the goods this week with a solid win.
There were some excruciating passages of play when the team had about 30 sequential shots at goal without a score but eventually the ball did go through.  Being a very young team they have a lot to learn and the Coach is very patient.
But a win is a win and they all had a great game.

James Receives His Badge

At Assembly today, James was recognised and presented with his badge as House Captain of Deep Creek (Blue)
He had just returned to his seat when he was called up again to be presented with the Shield for the House that won the Swimming Sports.
Shortly after that he was called up again to be presented with an "Aussie of the Week" certificate for his work in Maths.  It was turning into the James Show.  The week has started well for James!

Cooper's First Presentation

Cooper has settled into school and today all the Prep grade was recognised at Assembly.  Cooper was called up to receive his "Starting School Certificate" and be presented to the school.
He was quite relaxed about the whole event.

Development Continues

Now the pool is in place, Adam is working to complete the surrounds.  The final piece of the jig-saw is set of stairs down from the deck.  It is now approaching completion.
There is still work to do on the handrails etc but the steps themselves are now in place.
Also, the conifer hedge along the front is growing well through the long hot summer.

Basketball - James

James had a tough match today.  Eltham's team was substantially taller than the Vikings and they had a group of skilled players.  The Vikings were missing some members and James found himself running hard for most of the match.  In fact he was only off the court for 3 minutes.  He will sleep well tonight!

Claire's Seniority Celebrated

The Family assembled at Brett and Cathy's place to celebrate Claire's birthday.  What a spread it was! It certainly got the "Thumbs Up" from the younger members.
As they ate the senior contingent had a range of delicious entrees and a wine or two.
The Five Hour Lamb was a taste sensation and then Jack brought along his guitar to lead us in a well constructed rendition of "Happy Birthday"
Granny was given plenty of assistance to open her presents.
As the family grows, these celebrations are becoming more and more fun.  Thanks for a great evening.
