Prelim. Final Win for James

James had a good weekend.  His Basketball Team won on Saturday and on Sunday the Jets U13 Team won their Preliminary Final.  It was a freezing day but the rain held off until late in the last quarter.
James spent his time harrying the opposition and keeping the pressure on as well as kicking a great unaided goal.

Basketball - James

James is playing with a very tight team who know each other's moves really well.  The final scoreline of 50 to 12 told the story of their dominance today.
James was not the tallest on the court today (as the following Photo shows)  but he was fast, accurate and agile around the goals so today he kicked in 11 of the points for his team.  They are a fun team to watch.

Basketball - Patrick

It has been a while since we have seen Patrick and James play Basketball so today that was rectified. Pat is getting better each time we see him.  Today he picked up a couple of goals to contribute to the team's win.  The first goal must have been within a couple of seconds of the start of the game.  I did not have the camera ready and Pat had the ball out of the centre, down the court and through the ring.  Great game Pat

Lachlan Visits

Lachlan was not feeling too well today so a little quiet time with Granny was required.  By popular demand, Star Wars VI was played (for the 248th time) and it was all explained in great detail to Granny.
He had Granny sorted in the end.

Approaching Milestone

We have to report that the Cyclamen Brett and Cathy gave Claire for her birthday is still alive.  In fact, it is flourishing after nearly 6 months.  This is not our usual style.

James and the Jets - Another Win

The Jets U13 team came away with a win on Sunday even though in the first quarter it looked like they had decided to only kick points.  Their accuracy started to improve and they had a convincing win.  They are in the finals that start next week.

Justin's Battle Continues

Justin had had another seizure and was in hospital but he was able to come out for a few hours to celebrate Brett's birthday.
He was back in the system today and it has been decided that the new chemotherapy will start tomorrow.  The support from family and friends has been fantastic and we are hoping that this new treatment may help.

End Of The Season For Jack

Jack played his final game for the season yesterday.  The boys have had a good season so they were pumped as thay ran out through the banner.
Jack took some good marks and kicks.  They had a rough second quarter but came good in the second half to finish well.
Jack and his greatest fan.

Another Notch For Brett

We celebrated Brett's approaching antique status last night with a gathering of the clan.
For presents, his requirements are simple. It must be red and liquid and approaching it's tenth birthday.
Distribution of the food is an "all hands on deck" affair.
We did not go hungry.

Dinner Time

We all met on a European tour in 1998 and have been friends from that time. As Jenny and David were down from Renmark we had a catchup at Doug and Noelene's place.  It was another long night as none of us know how to keep quiet.

Since Cars Were Mentioned ...

The Photo Albums have revealed a couple of iconic photos from the distant past.  The sadly missed Nissan Patrol and the not so sadly missed Volkswagen.
This is the old Patrol in it's native environment.
This was the VW on the day it was sold.  A great day for family safety and peace of mind and, I suspect, scrap metal yards.

The Ute Did Exist!

Every time I talk of the old Ute, I tend to see quizzical sideways glances.  Is he dreaming? etc. Working through the old photos, I found this pic of Brett and the Ute in all it's glory.  All the patches are rust holes that have been patched with body filler.  It was purchased on a whim for $200 and was my commuter and weekend work horse for many years until finally sold for $250.

Visitors

Noel, Jenni and Glenda stopped by this morning on their way to visit Mum K. Good to catch up.

We Have Colour!

We have had weeks of cold, bleak conditions so it is good to look out this morning and finally see some sun and colour.

Peter and Jill - On the Move

Peter and Jill are gradually moving to their new apartment in the retirement village Victoria Grange.  The main move is tomorrow but they have been gradually moving small items and today we moved some plants and outdoor furniture.  We also had to make up their chairs and table from the flat packs.
It took a while but we got there.

Winter Football

We had a look at Jack's team last Sunday.  It was about 6 degrees with rain and wind and the Bureau measurements said it felt like 0 degrees.  I was not arguing.  The Under 9 Jets had a good day in these conditions and Jack was out for the full match.  He scored a couple of goals including this one.
He also grabbed the ball and ran it up forward for others to score.
Unlike some others, he managed to stay in good spirits in the cold and wet and ended up with another Coach's Award for his work on the day.  Great work Jack!

Yes - It Really Is Ben!

When Ben and Ula moved to Queensland he told us he was working for an oil company.  We did not realise he was working as a Poster Boy. He's all over NSW and Queensland and if you need  some lubricant, Ben's your man.

Jack - Football

It was another cold and overcast morning for Jack's game but at least the rain held off.
Jack had a relatively quiet day but received a number of mentions for his handball and teamwork.

New Glasses but Old News

For some reason we neglected to report on Sophie's new glasses.  The omission has now been corrected. Is this girl growing up or what?

Hauling Them In

The fish population of Hamilton Island has been depleted by one.  But you should have seen the one(s) that got away!

Battle Preparations

The Star fighters, troops and droids are being prepared to save the Universe.
