Terraforming Almost Complete

The massive earthworks that have seen the extension of the patio/deck area at the rear of Adam and Kate's house is nearing completion. The budgie/chook cage has been buried under tons of dirt as has masses of old equipment and materials.  There is enough stuff under there to occupy a future archaeologist for a decade. James is having a school vacation that involves a lot of shoveling.

Swimming Champ

Sophie put on an absolutely dominant performance in her recent swimming sports. She came home with firsts in Freestyle, Breaststroke and Backstroke and a second in the noodle race.  Coming in first in all the main races does not leave a lot of scope for improvement next year! Fantastic result.

MVP - 2016

After an absolutely cracking season, James scored the Coach's Award for the Most Valuable Player.  In our opinion it was a well deserved honour. Congratulations.

Easter in Cape Patterson

Lisa and the boys were in Cape Patterson for Easter with Marcia and Geoff.  Adam arranged for a visit to attend the Great Cape Patterson Easter Egg Hunt.  We found them in a pleasant camp with vans set round the perimeter of a circle.
The camp ground was directly above the beach so a visit was inevitable.
The water was freezing so there was not a lot of swimming but the bracing conditions stimulated appetites all round.
Back at the camp, the Easter Egg Hunt resulted in a significant haul of chocolate.
Followed by significant over consumption of that chocolate.

Greg's Birthday

To celebrate Greg's birthday, those that were able to met up at the Bowls Club in Moama for lunch.  It is not a simple task to coordinate an event for a family spread all over the state.  The important thing was that Greg had a good time on what was a great day and the event provided the chance for a rare catch up.
And chips are good no matter where they are consumed

Patrick's Grand Final

Patrick and his team played their basketball season Grand Final today.  Patrick had been sick for a few days and was hoping to spend a little more time on the bench but that was not how the Coach saw it.
The opposition jumped out of the blocks early and things were looking grim for the Vikings but the boys responded and won a very physical game by 2 points in a nail biter.

Medals were presented at the end of a tough game. It was a fitting end to the season that had seen the team progress so far.
Pat and Fletcher certainly earned their medals today.

Sophie's First Basketball Grand Final

In her first season playing basketball Sophie and her team won through to play in the Grand Final today.  Of course it was a double celebration because it was also Adam's first season as Coach.
They played well but the other team was stronger on the day. It was a fantastic result for the team over the season. (And medals are always good!)

Umpire Ebony

As well as playing Netball on Saturdays, Ebony is in training as an Umpire.  We were able to see her in action today.  As a trainee, her powers are limited but that will change in future.  It is a great opportunity to develop leadership skills.

Holly the Netballer

We had the chance to see Holly in action with her netball team today.  It was a miserable day so they were lucky to be on an inside court.
As they are a new team, the Coach is giving them experience of a number of positions and Holly played Goal Keeper and Centre.

Mitchell's Fourteenth.

On Sunday we took the opportunity to get Mitchell's photo for Granny's Gallery.  Although his birthday was a while ago, the need for a haircut and the fact we had been away for a while meant it was a little late.  He has not changed a lot during the delay!

Touring the Bermagui Area

There was plenty to keep us occupied in the area around Wallaga Lake, Bermagui and Merimbula.  We called in on the Bega Cheese factory where Claire became a little nostalgic.
We found an interesting winery -
and met some friendly locals.
There were local attractions and gardens around Tilba Tilba
and being a tourist area there were plenty of places to eat.
If you are so inclined, there are fishing opportunities everywhere.

Beaches

The south coast of NSW has plenty of big wide open beaches to explore and at the time we visited, crowding was definitely not an issue.
