Just a "Walk In The Park"

We went in to the "Walk In the Park" in support of Parkinsons Disease research today.  The weather was perfect and the walk was bigger than we have ever seen it.  It might have caught the organisers a little off guard as the organisation got a little ragged around the edges with all the people attending.
It was another opportunity to catch up with old friends over lunch after the walk.

The Band's Back Together Again

With reduced space available in the new accommodation we have been pondering over the way to keep our grandchildren up front and centre.  We think we have finally solved the problem but had to construct a custom photo frame for the task.  It is now in position.

Adam's Birthday

In an effort to make his parents feel even older, Adam had his birthday celebration last night.  The family gathered for a wonderful meal of fillet steak and goodies cooked by the whole family.
As a bonus we were able to see the final product of months of work renovating the kitchen and family room with the new table and chairs and all the lighting now in place. A great evening.

Basketball - Jack

Jack is in a good team this season.  The boys all play as a team and there are no "prima donnas".  Today they were up against the top team.  It turns out there is good reason they are on top of the ladder.  The boys put up a great fight with fantastic teamwork holding the opposition in check early but they fell behind later in the game. On the positive they did much better than they did on the last encounter.

Basketball - Cooper

We were off to an early start this morning as Cooper's game started at 8.15.  It appears that this is not his favourite time either.  The boys played well but Cooper fell heavily and hurt his arm resulting in a bit of time off early in the game.

Move Nearly Complete

The only items left in the old house now are those needed for maintenance before settlement. The final few bits and pieces are now out ready for removal by Council.  The end of an era.

Sophie Takes Time Out

Sophie has spent the day chasing her nose so school was off the agenda.  She stayed with us for a while while Dad had an appointment.
Sophie likes her iPad on sick days too.

Lachlan Takes a Sickie

Lachlan has not been well for a day or two.  He has found his "happy place" on a bed with his iPad.

Getting Back Into the Swing

After all the disruption of moving house and selling up it was good to get back to having the occasional dinner with family.  Brett Cathy, Mitchell, Ebony and Holly came over to check us out and see if we could still do a Lamb Roast.  It all worked well but the smaller space will preclude larger dinner parties.

Basketball - Sophie

We watched Sophie and her team play in the sparkling new Mullum Mullum Stadium.  It is a brilliant new facility and certainly says that basketball is here to stay.
Sophie played well in a game that saw her team up against the ladder leaders. It was a tight game but Sophie and her team came out winners to now lead the competition.

Patrick - Basketball

We saw Patrick play yesterday.  He had a good game but he was surrounded by some fairly tall timber.  At this time of life, being a year younger than most of the team has some disadvantages.
Patrick spent a little time practising his "hip and shoulder" drives.

A Congregation of Councillors?

As both Cooper and Lachlan have been elected to the Junior School Council we needed photos to mark the occasion.

New Winter Coat

The van has been feeling a little neglected of late.  It has been a while since our last trip, it has been moved off it's manicured van pad and to add to the indignity, it is now under a tree so the possums and birds can poop on it.  It needed attention so it now has a new protective coat.

Dorothy Willis (nee Kervin) Turns 100

Dorothy Willis is a cousin of Patrick Kervin and she grew up on one of the dairy farms in the Cohuna area.  Although she has lived most of her life in Essendon she still regards herself as a Cohuna girl.  She is one of those people who is vitally interested in everything going on around her and has been fully involved with her family, church and charitable groups in her area. Although frail, she is still relatively sharp so her 100th birthday was a big affair that filled the function room of the local RSL (where she worked as a volunteer for Legacy)  People travelled from interstate and there was a large group from the Cohuna area in attendance.
During the afternoon I discovered I had gone through Uni with one of her sons.  Dorothy was a great support for Claire when she prepared and published a History of the Kervins 30 years ago.
The cake was appropriate for the occasion.  Happy Birthday Dorothy.

APPS Assembly Stars

We attended the Assembly at Antonio Park today and all the Garnetts were involved.  It was Book Week and the place was crawling with Dr Seuss characters.
Jack did his part running the Assembly.
He presented badges to his brothers as both Cooper and Lachlan had been elected as members of the Junior School Council.
Later in the assembly, Jack presented Lachlan with his ERIC Award for his outstanding performance in Maths.
Jack was also presented to the school as a member of the football team that had reached the Regional Finals.  This was an historic performance as it had never been achieved by the school before.

School Photos

School photos always have a bit of a "Lucky Dip" element to them.  On this occasion Jack, Cooper and Lachlan all got their photo faces together at the same time.

APPS Reaches the Regionals

The Antonio Park Football Team reached the Regional Finals that were played out today.  Jack has enjoyed playing football with the school that has won through the local comp with an almost unbeaten record. They then won the District competition to enter the Regional Competition.
The team easily won their first 2 games but were well beaten in the third so their season has ended. They can however be proud of a great record for the year.
