Halloween

Jack and Lachlan are ready for a big (sugar filled) night.
Cooper missed out because he headed off to camp today but he did not seem too upset.

Holly's Birthday Lunch

It was so long ago that we have almost forgotten Holly's Birthday but we finally managed to organise a celebratory lunch.  What better than calamari with ice-cream to follow. Hunger was a non issue for the rest of the afternoon.

Hollly - Netball

We watched Holly for the first time this season and the team has really developed.  The opposing team had a number of very tall players but the girls proved themselves a little more nimble eventually winning the game. Holly worked well and showed herself as a very able defender.
Holly was off in the third quarter and was able to cast a critical eye over the match with the Coach and Assistant Coach.

Spring Festival

The rain has stopped for the present so we walked over to the Whitehorse Spring Festival in the council grounds.  There was the usual assortment of stands on display and there were plenty in attendance.  It gave us an opportunity to see the variety of groups and clubs in the area to suit our lifestyle in the new location.  Claire liked the look of the high wire dancing troupe.
However you need a hobby that you can do at home and some suggestions were immediately apparent.
I, on the other hand, was interested in developing the garden for the new house so we had a quick look at some of the available tools on display.

Sophie's Team Fires

Sophie is in a new(ish) team this season.  An interesting new inclusion is Olivia who is one of Sophie's school friends and the granddaughter of my cousin.
The girls were on fire today against an inexperienced team so it was past half time before the opposition scored.  No doubt the grading process will attend to that little matter.
Sophie played well and the team looks impressive.  We hope they have a good season.

Patrick's New Team

Patrick started the season with a new team. They are still in the grading period but a little work still needs to be done in the skills department.  They were hammered today by a better team.  Live and learn - now for next week!

Basketball Starts Again

The new season of basketball is underway and tonight we watched James with his mates.  It is a rather informal group with no coach and no practice but they put on a good performance against a stronger team.  James did well scoring the majority of the team goals.

Kate Finds Her Happy Place

Adam purchased his new car topper camping tent and it only took one try for Kate to proclaim it good.

Farmers' Market

We wandered down to the Farmers' Market that is held monthly in the Council grounds.  It has become quite an event with all sorts of stores and produce available.  Next month we intend to be better prepared with plenty of shopping bags and cash.  On this occasion we came away with a few samples,  local honey, fresh apples and a couple of varieties of exotic spuds.  It is certainly an event worth attending.

The Prodigals Return

Brett and Cathy had a dinner last night to celebrate the return of all three families to home base.  The dinner was a spectacular pork roast and we also managed to demolish 3 bottles of fantastic red wine along the way.  A great night and very happy to see everyone again.

Morning Musings

The morning walk is currently a very rewarding experience with the new growth of spring and the intense morning light.

Yosemite

One thing the Americans seem to do well is National Parks.  Adam, Kate and the family are visiting Yosemite and the scenery looks spectacular.

Here We Go

We were away for an hour or two this morning and returned to the first signs that things are going to happen on the location of the old house.

Holly Gets into the Gallery

The holiday period delayed us getting Holly's portrait for Granny's Gallery however we managed to get it today.

Dinner in the Car Park

It was interesting to see a pop up food event in the car park of the local shopping centre.  Over four nights, a variety of food vans offered a range of evening meals to patrons.  The weather was kind and it made for a great way to occupy a Saturday evening and catch up with the locals (Brett, Cathy and the Walsh family).
However, we did give the jumping castle a miss.

Contract Signed

It has been just short of 20 months in the making but we have finally signed the contract to see the build of our new house.

Where Are they All?

It has been a little strange of late to have the family distributed over the globe. Adam and Lisa's family in the US and Brett's family over in Western Australia.  It lead to some quiet contemplation.
