Alfie Needs Counselling

Alfie was sure he had a special relationship with Sophie.

Then he found out she was lying around on a beach in Fiji.
It was a shock that will require on going therapy sessions.

Mid Year Break

The Donvale Dogs needed a break so they packed their family off to Fiji while they broke in some new carers.  The family appear to be adapting to their new surroundings.

And the dogs are only having minor problems with their new carers.

Grand Final Win For Holly

Holly's Old Orchard team made it through to the Grand Final that was played today.  From the outset, they did not look like losing as they crushed the opposition in the first half.  Things looked less certain in the third quarter as they eased up but they stepped up again in the last quarter to win 36 to 22.

The team was presented with their trophies at the end of the game.
It's a good way to finish the season!

Cooper's Concert

After a number of Covid related delays, Cooper's Concert was held at the school last night.  It was a full program with students from all levels.  Cooper played in the Concert Band and the "Big Big Band" which was huge.

Cooper was working away on the trombone.
It was a great display of a variety of talent.  We enjoyed it and so did Cooper.

Holly Into The Grand Final

Holly was in her netball semi-final today.  The opposition had not been the most gracious when defeated previously so it was with some satisfaction that Old Orchard had an easy win today and are into the Grand Final next week.

Oh Goody! Me Too

Turns out that cohabiting with a Covid sufferer is likely to mean you get the bug too!

Lachlan's (Late) Birthday Party

There had been a few delays to Lachlan's friends meeting him for his birthday (Covid, weddings etc) but yesterday was the day.  The weather was not great and Lisa had Covid but the party went on.

The boys met up at a Sport Centre for some Bow and Arrow Hunting and some Bubble Soccer.
Following the instruction sessiion, the hunt was on.
Fuel was required prior to the Bubble Soccer.
While there were nominal rules to the game, the main objective seemed to be knocking others off their feet. All the boys enjoyed the soccer.
Then Birthday Cake to finish the day.

Now We Understand

Claire had not been well for a few days with a strange throat infection.  A few Panadol were expected to sort it out.  Following a tip-off from Lisa she did a Covid RAT check.  It doesn't get more positive than that! So it's a few days in splendid isolation.

Back From Cohuna

We stayed overnight in the local Motel.  It is a very old motel (our wedding guests stayed there nearly 53 years ago) so it is not the most imposing structure.  However it was neat and clean and had the most comfortable beds we had come across.  It was a case of making your own breakfast in a well provisioned kitchen

We had a quick look at the town before heading for Echuca to visit Paul and Allira.
Paul and Allira have found themselves a solid older house that they are updating.
The house is in an amazing position with the back yard opening to a reserve on the banks of the Campaspie River.  It is like having their own private parkland.

Greg's Funeral

It was a sad day for the family as we headed up to Cohuna for Greg's funeral in the Cohuna Uniting Church. The venue was small so could not contain all those wishing to attend.  Claire spoke of his early life and Shane covered the later years.

The service was followed at the Cohuna Lawn Cemetery with the family releasing balloons in the Essendon colours
The Wake was held at the Leitchville Pub.  It has been refurbished and could not have been more suitable for the event.
We stayed in Cohuna and had an evening meal in the Bower Tavern.
