To Dungog
The time had come to leave the Myall Lakes.
We packed our gear for the next leg of our trip. The outstanding success in this location was the bush shower which performed brilliantly. Plenty of nice hot water to keep us happy campers. The problem was always going to be the packing of the shower tent but it all went like clockwork.
We took the backroads to Dungog using the punt to cross the Broadwater.
We passed through the beautiful back country to camp at the Dungog Showgrounds.

Sea Cruise
From our camp we decided to take a ferry back to Nelson Bay to see the lakes at close quarters.
The old ferry had had many lives in its 80 year history and was still using its original diesel engines.
In the afternoon we saw the ocean beaches.
Pre dinner drinks were served down by the lake before it was time for a sumptuous feast of beef fettuccine.

Myall Lakes
This is an interesting and varied part of the world. The weather is weird, sunny, thunderstorms without rain then with rain, high humidity and constant temperatures. We checked out the local ferry service to get us over the lake. All very quaint.
Then we checked out Dark Point and the extended range of dunes near the beach. A wild and beautiful area.

Nelson Bay and Surrounds
Continuing with our relaxed pace, we had a look at the Port Stephens and Nelson Bay area.
What ever the location, coffee is important
Continuing the theme of nutritional excellence we checked out a local boutique brewery,
and a winery.
The beach was close by the camp for a wander before pre-dinner drinks.
