Grandma K Hits 91

Today was Jean K's 91st birthday.  She has not been having such a great time of late.  Her left hand and wrist became massively swollen with what the doc. thinks is rheumatoid arthritis.  The anti-inflammatory drugs seem to have reduced the swelling and and she is in less pain but she is still uncomfortable.  All she wanted for her birthday was some profiteroles filled with REAL cream.  The French Bakery obliged and Grandma was a happy camper.

Captain James comes home with a win!

James' team had a good day today.  In his first game as Captain, he and the team played really well and they won the match.  Many of the players lifted this week and there was more team play.  James played hard in the first half and got himself 3 fouls but it all worked out well.
Some of the capacity crowd were hanging on every move.
But others found themselves easily distracted.

Things Are Happening Here

Change is underway.  We have arranged to have the floors done after Christmas so that will remove the last of the carpet from the house.  Today we ordered the new table; a ripper.  It is 1050x2400 and with extensions on each end can be 1050x3600 so it could reasonably seat 16 if needed.  So this is a pic for posterity of a space that will soon change considerably.

It's Getting to THAT Time Again!

We had some visitors today who were interested in helping Granny sort out the Christmas decorations.
Lachlan really enjoys playing on the bike, as long as someone stands by the pump and is prepared to fill the bike with petrol each time he passes.

The Herb Wheel

The warmer conditions are suiting the herbs Claire planted in the wheel.  The Oregano is trying to take over and the Basil, Chives and Flat Leafed Parsley are growing well.

Family Dinner

Last night we had the crew around for another magnificent lamb roast.  This time - no disasters.  Last lamb roast the heating element in the oven rolled over and turned up its toes about half way through the roast.  We have found that all these small problems can be resolved with about $200!  The Chef also prepared an apple clafouti and a tea cake.  James put in a fantastic effort and made sure there was no tea cake left at the end of the evening.
We opened a bottle of the Warrabilla Durif we brought back from Rutherglen and I fell in love with it all over again.  Others were not so sure as it is very different from our traditional Shiraz.

Basketball Report - James.

James' team also came up against a team of comparable skills.  The scores were equal with about 30 seconds to go when the opposition threw a goal.  It was a disappointing result as they have been pipped on the post a number of times.  They probably had the ball at their end more often but were unable to convert.
James threw everything at the game and was a real little terrier on the court.
A little orange comet with a tail of blue splayed out behind him.  And when he did not have the ball the opposition players were usually aware that he was on their case!

Basketball Report - Patrick.

Patrick and James both had their matches at the local venue this week so after 3 weeks away, we were able to check on progress.  Patrick's team came up against some tough opposition this week.  Perhaps moving the team up 3 divisions was a little ambitious. Maybe next week.

Christmas Approaches

Granny got the tree up today and a Jack Cooper and Lachlan arrived for a brief inspection.  They all seemed to agree that it looked OK but the presents sitting under the tree was where their interest was really focused.

Music Hall

We went to a play in the style of the old fashioned Music Hall last night.  Kellie and Ian produced the show and you booked a table and brought supper along and cheered and jeered at the various heroes and villans.
