Lunch (With a Twist)

To celebrate their exit from Covid isolation, Lisa, Mark and the boys came over for lunch.  We decided to try lunch on the deck.  It turned out to be a good idea as the weather was perfect.

At the back of a cupboard, Lisa had found a year 2000 Sav. Blanc from Canberra. The winery is still operating. The bottle was cork sealed and it looked OK however the bottom of the cork collapsed on opening.  It was interesting to see the really old style label design.
When poured it was a honey colour and unfortunately was undrinkable.
Fortunately, the sparkling and the Wynns 2010 Cab Sav came up trumps with the roast.  We followed with Apple Roly Poly and a few rounds of Rickety Kate to finish a relaxed afternoon.

Ebony's Eighteenth Portrait

Ebony dropped over so we could get her photo for Granny's Gallery for her eighteenth birthday.  We loved last years portrait so  we hoped this one would be as good.  We were not disappointed.

Nice In Noosa

Adam, Kate and family braved the confused and disorganised airline industry to suffer for a day getting to Noosa for a few days.  Compensation was a holiday suite with a view like this.

For all their suffering, they seem to be enjoying the break.

The Guardians

While Adam, Kate and family are dealing with the idiosyncrasies of the post-covid airline industry on their way to Noosa, the dogs were left to guard the property.  It's a task they are happy to perform. As long as the food keeps coming, they are happy.  Rosie is showing her age and looking fragile but the others are full of bounce.

They all know that treats are handed out at the end of the visit so they hang around!

Time Marches On

Out of the blue, Claire received an invitation to an 80th birthday celebration from a work colleague she had not seen for 27 years.  Joy Vogt had changed little with the exception of a dash of added grey, and she was still sharp.

James Starts with Whitefriars

James did his pre-season training with the Mitcham Tigers but after an administrative  debacle, he was told he could not play with them so he moved to Whitefriars.  He played with them for the first time today against Melbourne High, winning 45 to 36.

James was on all day apart from half a quarter when he was off with a corked thigh.

Jack's Basketball Final

After a walkover last week, Jack and his team were in the grand final this week.  The teams were evenly matched to the extent they finished in a draw.  This meant another five minutes of play and for two teams that had given their all, it was a struggle.  Unfortunately the Vultures went down but were clearly not disgraced.  Maybe next season!

Cooper Turns Fourteen

For his fourteenth birthday celebration, Cooper wanted to return to the Doncaster Greek Tavern that he had enjoyed previously.  The meal was up to the expected standard capping a good day for Cooper, coming to terms with his great age and his new Apple Watch.

James' 20th Celebration

To celebrate James' 20th birthday, Kate and Adam organised a traditional afternoon with the Reid and Altis families.  While the weather was not fully cooperating, the rain held off and we were all happy that traditions had resumed post-covid.  We all thoroughly enjoy these occasions.

Well That Was Unexpected!

Jack and his team arrived ready to play their semi-final but there was no play.  Umpires excluded the opposition team for a uniform code violation - they had pockets in their pants and had been playing in them all season.  So Jack and his team are straight into the grand final.
