Lachlan's (Late) Birthday Party

There had been a few delays to Lachlan's friends meeting him for his birthday (Covid, weddings etc) but yesterday was the day.  The weather was not great and Lisa had Covid but the party went on.

The boys met up at a Sport Centre for some Bow and Arrow Hunting and some Bubble Soccer.
Following the instruction sessiion, the hunt was on.
Fuel was required prior to the Bubble Soccer.
While there were nominal rules to the game, the main objective seemed to be knocking others off their feet. All the boys enjoyed the soccer.
Then Birthday Cake to finish the day.

Now We Understand

Claire had not been well for a few days with a strange throat infection.  A few Panadol were expected to sort it out.  Following a tip-off from Lisa she did a Covid RAT check.  It doesn't get more positive than that! So it's a few days in splendid isolation.

Back From Cohuna

We stayed overnight in the local Motel.  It is a very old motel (our wedding guests stayed there nearly 53 years ago) so it is not the most imposing structure.  However it was neat and clean and had the most comfortable beds we had come across.  It was a case of making your own breakfast in a well provisioned kitchen

We had a quick look at the town before heading for Echuca to visit Paul and Allira.
Paul and Allira have found themselves a solid older house that they are updating.
The house is in an amazing position with the back yard opening to a reserve on the banks of the Campaspie River.  It is like having their own private parkland.

Greg's Funeral

It was a sad day for the family as we headed up to Cohuna for Greg's funeral in the Cohuna Uniting Church. The venue was small so could not contain all those wishing to attend.  Claire spoke of his early life and Shane covered the later years.

The service was followed at the Cohuna Lawn Cemetery with the family releasing balloons in the Essendon colours
The Wake was held at the Leitchville Pub.  It has been refurbished and could not have been more suitable for the event.
We stayed in Cohuna and had an evening meal in the Bower Tavern.

Jack's Mates Team

Jack and some school mates formed a basketball team.  They were concerned about having enough players but all of the invitees joined, so they now have 9 in the team and plenty of rotations! They played a tall skillful team yesterday but all the boys enjoy the challenge.

Cooper Basketball

It is Cooper's first season for some time so he feels a little rusty but his coach is happy with his progress and he is good in defence.  They missed a win but played well yesterday.

Back In the Game

Jack has had a couple of weeks off (illness, avoiding Covid and wedding) so he was back in action last night.  Unfortunately they were up against a very skilled team so there was no resting on the sidelines.  It was a real workout.  The boys did well but were not quite up to it.

Honeymoon

Early Monday morning Lisa and Mark departed for their Queensland honeymoon accompanied by Jason who was heading home.

While away, Granny was Chief Nutritionist at Ringwood.
The nutrition plan incorporated all the food groups.
Apparently Lisa and Mark felt the same way.
The only problem they face while away is keeping out of the sun.
While away they kept the health food shops busy.

Vale Greg

Greg passed away on Tuesday, 31st May 2022 after a long battle with MS.  He was born in March 1951 and grew up at Leitchville with Noel and Claire.  He went to Cohuna Consolidated School and then Cohuna High School before working with his father on the dairy farm.  He welcomed five children and ten grandchildren into his life.  Family was everything of importance to him.  He was also a loving uncle to Noel and Claire's children.
