James Birthday Dinner

James had his family dinner on Saturday night.  Before the formal festivities there were games to be played.
And there were invaders to be repulsed.
Of course the girls decided thay had better things to do.
Before we came to the Cake.
Being Saturday night during the footy season it was important to watch the new Gold Coast AFL team being absolutely belted by Carlton.  Not a pretty sight!

Election Result

We must rectify a serious omission from the blog in that we failed to report that Patrick has been named as Environmental Leader for his Grade following a hotly contested election. He developed his speech and practiced it many times to get it just right for election day.

James Buys Birthday Presents

James took the morning to do a little shopping with the funds provided by Granny and Pa for his birthday.  We toured the shops and made a range of carefully selected purchases in a variety of stores.

From the evidence presented below it a appears that he was satisfied with the decisions made on the day!
This birthday has taken on a certain AFL flavour with the purchase of a range of Footy Cards and with presents provided by friends and family.

AusKick Starts

It was a bleak Saturday morning.  Cool with heavy clouds and the threat of rain but Pat finally made it to the grounds for his first AusKick of the season.  A couple of AFL footballers turned up for support and the preliminaries and then it got down to the business of chasing the ball.

Birthday in the Dark Zone

James had his 9th Birthday party in the Dark Zone.  While he did have dinner and a cake with his friends, and he did play a range of games and computer games; -

the important business of the evening was in the Dark Zone.  He lead his forces of Purity and Light

against the forces of Evil and Darkness.

Visit to Granny and Pa

Sophie, Cooper and Lachlan came to visit this morning.  A variety of games were played before morning tea. As can be seen, the sustenance was greeted with different levels of enthusiasm
Then it was down to the business of some serious cooking with Play-Doh.
Lachlan did not opt out entirely,  but by the end of the morning he had decided that sleep looked like a good option.

Training for the First Game

Anticipation is growing for the first game on Sunday.  These photos from training show the calm before the storm.

Football excitement grows

The Donvale Magpies had their Jumper Presentation at a club Family Day today.  James was pleased to get his preferred No.4.

Following the presentation there was a team race.  James did not get away well but in the second half of the race he streaked through the field coming in a close second.

Dinner with Friends

The story continues.  We all met on a tour of Europe 13 years ago and met again on return to look at our photos.  We are still meeting but by the time we finish talking there is no time to look at the photos.
One photo we did see was taken by Lex and Rosemary when we all went to a Castlemaine B&B for a weekend last November.

School Fete

The Primary School had their Fete today - titled "Fete of the World".  The weather was threatening but so far it is cool, cloudy and thankfully, dry.  The place was packed with people who came for the rides, food and bric a brac offered at these events.

There were rides for kids of all ages but James favourite was the Hurricane.
