Smoking Sunset

With all the smoke from the fires around Melbourne settling over us we had a strange sunset this evening.

School Swimming Sports

James and Patrick took part in the swimming sports today.  Both swam well and took places but there were a couple of technical hitches.
James had his hair cut and so the goggles were a little loose and each time he dived in they came off. He spent time swimming blind.  Backstroke was better.
Pat had worked on his style and it showed in the pool.
His Freestyle race had a false start but for unknown reasons it was not restarted so he started behind the rest.  Undaunted, Pat shot up the pool to win his race.
In the Breaststroke he took a very close second place behind a rep. swimmer.  He also got places in Backstroke and Butterfly
Now having the pool and with a little practice, those times are set to drop rapidly.

Celebration Dinner

It has been a good week for James, Patrick and Sophie so it was decided that a celebratory dinner was in order in a favourite Greek restaurant.
James had been elected as a House Captain at school.
Patrick had taken a year off external responsibilities to work on his bid for School Captain and to try out for swimming squad.
and Sophie had been elected as Junior School Council rep for her class.
A great dinner finished off a great week.

James Works Out

It is going to be 40 degrees today. Luckily James' game started at 11.00 so the stadium was not too hot but it was still like working out in a sauna.  With key team members missing, he had to work extra hard.  Better him than me.
Talk about step up - James threw 9 of the team's 18 points!

Good Times

Nothing beats a Barbeque on a warm evening with good friends!

We Receive Visitors

These birds are called "Little Corellas".  If these (45cm birds) are little, the Big Correllas must be like Pterosaurs We have a flock of them in the local area and they like the nuts of the native pine in the back yard.  They must have beaks made of titanium!
The boss sits at the top of the tree while the others eat.

We Have Joined The Club

Wow - This Is Serious Mum.
We have joined the Club.  This is the ticket to join.
Yes - we are now fully paid up members of the Trakmaster Offroad Caravan Club and we attended our first AGM this afternoon.  As can be seen, there is a serious amount of grey hair here so it must be a serious club.  Luckily the members we met looked like they knew how to enjoy life.

Respite From The Heat

On hot days like today, pools seem a very sensible addition to the back yard.  The crew were in total agreement.
