Canowindra

Close to Cowra is the little town of Canowindra.  It is a very quaint old place that does not seem to have moved much since the 1920s.
Apart ftom the wine produced in the area (we have samples) the main attraction is a Museum devoted to a huge haul of Devonian fossilised fish found in the area.  It appears they were all trapped and died together following some disaster so many are in an excellent state of preservation and the consequence is that the whole ecosystem is sampled in the find.
The area is undulating and can be very dry or very wet.

Visiting Cowra

We had planned for some months to visit the backblocks of New South Wales with the Inchleys so we met at Cowra and camped out of town at the Wyangala Dam and used it as our base.
One of the main attractions at Cowra is the Japanese Garden presented to town by the Japanese Government in commemoration of the Prisoner of War Camp that held many captured Japanese during WW2.
The town also holds Australia's World Peace Bell.  It weighs over 400 kg and is made from coins contributed from all the participating nations.

Patrick's Tenth

It has taken a while to get a time slot to take Patrick's tenth birthday photo.  We finally managed today.  Here 'tis.

Sophie's Fairy Party

It was a sea of pink as Sophie hosted her seventh birthday party with her friends and special guest Fairy Twinkletoes.
There was great excitement when the Fairy arrived to entertain the girls.
Many of the dresses and the Cake were themed from "Frozen".

Basketball - James

We watched James and his team bring down Eltham today.  They got away to a flying start but Eltham was chasing them down later in the game.  James scored 6 points but unfortunately, his team has a superstar that gets most of the goals and he is leaving to live overseas at the end of the month.  That will test the boys.

Friday Night Take Away

A balmy Friday night, end of a long week, no school for two days, who feels like cooking?  No one seemed to mind Fish and Chips and Granny's custard and ice-cream.

New Books

Jack and Cooper examined the catalogue in great detail and then ordered their new books to be paid for with their own money.  There was great excitement when they arrived.  Methinks this will not be the last time this occurs.

Garden Development

The proposed vege patch is gradually taking shape as the back yard is contoured to accommodate it. The bottom wall is now in place and work has begun on the steps.

Pat and Sophie's Birthdays

Last Sunday we had a relaxed family gathering to celebrate Patrick and Sophie's birthdays.  They are both going to have extended birthdays this year as friends parties have to be slotted into their busy schedule.

New Lens

I have a new (macro) lens for photographing small objects bought with the intent of digitising old photos and slides.  When tested on some thumbnail sized dasies, the results were impressive.
