Basketball - Patrick

Patrick and his team play basketball in the Friday night competition. It has been a while since we have seen him perform but we were able to see them tonight.  They took a bit of a hammering from a better team but there were periods when they were getting on top.  Hope springs eternal.
 Patrick showed his skills as an attacking player
and he also did well as a defender.  For the next couple of weeks the team is to be coached by Adam and James so we are expecting massive improvement!

Jets' Season Ends

James and the Jets had their final game for the season today. It would have been good to see the season out with a win but Boronia were too strong.
 James worked hard throughout the match.
Part of his game is to work as an "enabler" supporting other players and harassing the opposition to keep them from the ball.
Adam had his last day on the boundary too.  We hear his Sundays will now be fully devoted to the list of jobs that has been growing throughout the footy season.

Basketball - Sophie

Sophie was back from Bali and the braids were still in for Basketball.  Although she put the work in and came off the court a little red faced, the team could not quite get there today.

Basketball - James

James and his team had another win today. They come to the game with a very low key but determined approach and usually win, often against taller and confident opposition.

Basketball - Jack

Jack enjoys his Basketball playing in two teams, one on Friday evenings and the other Saturday mornings.  It has been a while since we saw him play but he is developing into quite a handy player.
 Life is always sweeter after a goal and here he had just dived through the pack and put the ball through without assistance.  He looks pleased.

Brett's Birthday

The family celebration was arranged for Brett's Birthday.  Parents find it a little scary to have children with that esteemed age although others seemed totally undaunted.

Sophie's Been to Bali

Sophie came home with a trophy of her trip to Bali.

Walking Torvo

It has been a while since I took a dog for a walk.  Torvo knew I was a newbie Walker and took it upon himself to educate me.  I learned:
a)  I do not move fast enough between interesting smells;
b) interesting smells can emerge at any point on or off the path;
c) it is necessary to take the most direct path to an interesting smell even if that requires tripping up the Walker;
d) it is important to jump up on everyone if you get the opportunity;
e) the Walker is an annoying and unnecessary encumbrance to the walking experience.

We Meet Again

It is about 19 years since we first met on a tour of Europe but the 3 monthly catchups continue.  We have long since ceased to talk about Europe but we are all travelling and our separate adventures keep the conversation flowing (until far too late).

Good to be Gone!

As the Bali Five are swanning around the pool in the sunshine, the hard work of grounds maintenance and fertilisation has been left to the dogs.  They are having to work in cold, adverse conditions, a far cry from the conditions of their equatorial owners.
It must be said that they are bearing up well and doing their work without complaint.

The Guardians

It has been cold! Zero this morning so Adam, Kate and family have headed for the equator leaving the dogs in charge.  They have been coping well.  Max expects a little attention after he has eaten.  The least you can do is throw a ball.
Rosie is more restrained.  After a meal she has a little lie down!
As evidence of the freezing morning, I present the smallest egg I have ever seen. The chooks must have had a rough night.

Holly Wins Grand Final

What a season she has had. Holly and her team came through with flying colours today, winning their Grand Final against a team that had not been beaten all season.
As a natural defender, Holly dominated her (taller) opponent always managing to be in front and spoiling many attempts at goal.  It was no walkover but the 3 to 2 final score was enough to get the job done.  Coach Cathy and Mini-Coach Ebony have done great work with the team.
It was the best way for the girls to end the season being presented with their winners trophy.
