Family History Trail

While in Leitchville we visited the Heritage Garden acknowledging the district pioneers.  Claire's heritage is evident on both her father's and her mother's side.
Patrick and Bessie Kervin arrived in area in 1909 as farmers and William and Ruby Nelson arrived in 1919.
William Nelson was a carpenter and he brought a wooden house up from Bendigo and built it in the town.  To our delight we found it had been recently renovated and we got to see inside.
The house had been well renovated although the internal layout had been modified but the original floorboards and much of the timber and the chimney were original.
William Nelson was called on as a carpenter to help build the Horfield Church which has just closed.
