Sun's Out

After days of dreary weather, the sun came out today for our walk.  The mood changes and anything is possible on days like this!
Even the old park bench looked interesting.

Birthday Photos for Granny's Gallery

With things becoming more normalised we are catching up on some of the tasks stopped by isolation.  We have had a big weekend catching up on missed birthday photos for the gallery.

Mitchell turned eighteen
James also turned eighteen
Jack turned fourteen
Cooper turned twelve
and Lachlan turned ten.  Now we have to catch up with Ebony to get up to date.

Getting Back to Normal

Although we are still living with restrictions related to the Covid pandemic, they are finally starting to ease.  We have been able to visit and we are now able to have a limited number of visitors.  So it was wonderful to see the start of family visiting last night when Brett, Cathy and the family came for dinner.

Final Planting Finished

The last of the planting was completed today to see the front garden finished.  Now it is up to us to maintain it.

Re-purposing Complete

Cooper has taken over Claire's old computer as the start of his quest for a gaming computer.  Initially he has added his own parts and has it all connected up and working.  As things develop he will raid it for any usable parts as he gets his own components.

Finalising a Three Year Project

A little over three years ago we started on the journey to rethink our future accommodation.  Since then we have sold Efron St, designed our new home,  refurbished Unit 2, built Unit 1 and now finished the final fitout and garden.
While a few plants and small rocks are still needed, the landscaper finished the grass, lighting and water feature.  Now our only task is to maintain everything.
Despite the (relatively minor) dramas that have occurred we are more than happy with the end result.

New Computer Commissioned

Claire's old computer had grown and developed over the years and still carried its history in a whole range of redundant files.  The time had come for a replacement with a streamlined, clean system and updates to her major applications.  Getting the computer was the easy part. It took about three days of work to get all the files, applications and backup systems in place.  All now appears to be running smoothly in the more powerful, quieter, more energy efficient and tiny computer.

Lachlan the Artist

During this period of isolation, Lachlan has been working on his art skills.  They are coming along in leaps and bounds.  On this occasion he has drawn his own version of a Clone Trooper using MS paint.  It shows some battle damage on the helmet,
Lachy has now worked on his design to draw a number of different versions,  This one is Memer.

The Grassman Cometh

Now we will have grass instead of wire grass. couch grass and dandelions.  It will be quite a change!

A Big Change

As the day finished we saw major change in the front yard.  The water feature was put in place and the ground prepared for the turf at the front and all the plants put in.  We still have a way to go.  Another 35 plants, the lights and fountain are still to be installed then turf and the garden to be mulched.  We are hopeful it will be finished by the end of the week.

Let's Eat!

Just out of lockdown and we were very happy to receive a delivery from the Bordeaux Gourmet Kitchens.  The dilemma was to decide which one was to be opened first, Mulberry Jam, Quince Jelly or Damson Jam.  Brett had worked on Grandma Kervin's Quince Jelly recipe for some years and finally had it sorted. So there was no contest.  Just as we remembered it!  Great work!

We Have Plants!

A great morning for planting and the landscapers are hard at it with the designer putting the plants in the new garden.  It already looks a whole lot better than the previous moonscape of dead grass!

Dinner Time

We had another "breakout" dinner on Saturday visiting Lisa and Mark for the first time for many weeks.  Mark's niece Annie was visiting. Yet another move in getting life back to normal.

On The Road Again

With the easing of restrictions we were able to go and see progress at Moorrabbin as Mark continues the build of the new office spaces.
It has changed a lot since we last saw the place and it is well on its way to being an inviting workplace.

Visitors - Woo Hoo!

We can now have visitors. There is hope for a more normal life!  Great to see Lisa and Lachlan today.

Breakout!

With the restrictions being eased slightly, we are now able to visit family and friends. So it was wonderful to be able to have dinner with Adam, Kate and the family last night.  Sophie had at one time made some cinnamon rolls for food tech class and in the photo they looked great so we were more than a little pleased to see she had decided to make them again for the meal.  I might add that they lived up to expectations - delicious.
The best part of the evening was the fact that we could meet up in person and have a good yak over the meal.  Louie was not to be ignored as he wanted to show off the latest fashion in night attire.

Up The Garden Path

We saw more progress on the front garden today as the path pavers were set in position and the rocks delivered.  We now have a few days to wait before the plants will be delivered but at least we can see progress!

Mark Moves Moorabbin

Mark has been working hard on Adam's office space at Moorabbin.  It is rapidly approaching the stage of final electrical work then sealing up and painting.
From the empty space, the walls are up and much of the plaster.
 Adam's office is taking shape

Coronial Consequences

The virus lockdown has meant that Mothers's Day was celebrated at home for most families.  Kate celebrated with all family members but only three assisted with the meal.

The Garden Starts

The day has been a long time coming but there was finally some action in the front garden as the terraforming began.
A couple of skips worth of clay and builder's refuse was scraped off the top.
Then soil was brought in and the pathway formed up.  It's looking better already.
