Ross

Although the "Convict Industry" was instrumental in the development of many areas of Tasmania, much of the evidence for it has been erased.  Ross is a town that has embraced its past and repurposed many of its old buildings.  The star attraction is the convict built bridge that is still in use.

The old church and outbuildings still stand and the Town Hall is in use.
Just out of the town is the old convict quarry that was used to cut high quality limestone blocks for building.
From Ross we traveled out to the beautiful east coast on our way to Bicheno.
