Heading North

The time arrived for our long planned trip to Urunga on the north coast of New South Wales.  We had planned easy stages over 4 days and so far things are working out.

Despite recent rain, the weather has been warm and dry and as we are travelling off peak, there has been no trouble finding parks.  First night was at Narranderra, then a relatively short run to Parkes.  Some of these old towns have substantial old buildings reflecting a prosperous past.
and some like this school could do with a bit of updating.
We continued through flat, hot grazing and cropping country country to Coonabarabran.
In the distance we could see the Warrumbungle Ranges and the Siding Springs Observatory we had visited about 45 yrs ago.
You know to expect warm weather when the decorative trees in the park are massive cactii.
So we have a night at Coonabarabran before heading for Armidale tomorrow.
