Meeting the Natives

 On our journey south, we stopped overnight at a relatively untouched part of the river.

The boat had a small tender that we boarded to have a closer look at the banks and the wildlife.  Remarkably large trees grew in crevices in the bank.
Nests of Fairy Martens hung under overhangs. Trees that had provided bark for small canoes could be seen.
And there were plenty of waterbirds including ducks, pelicans, storks, cormorants and any number of parrots,
