Moving South

We called in to the little town of Waikerie that has been through lean times and is reinventing itself through fruit related industry and tourism.  The visitor centre had displays of local arts and some amazing student art work from the local school.

A lookout over the town shows off the landscape together with the remains of a (failed) pumping station. This was built to support some early settlers that were brought to the area and then left to their own devices to try and farm the area.
Like many country towns, the silos have been painted with images of local wildlife.
Downriver once again we stopped overnight in the historic town of Morgan.  The original Port at Morgan had been built to challenge the Port of Echuca as a hub for the river trade so it looked very familiar.
