If you come up this way you are obligated to visit Monkey Mia to see the dolphins. We followed advice and got there early for the first feed of the day. I was glad to see that the show is becoming more dolphin aware and less of a freak show than I had expected. They only feed 5 animals and then only give them a little fish to force them to maintain their natural hunting behaviour. Participants have to maintain a distance from the animals and there is no touching allowed.
A few pelicans come in for scraps and there is a good population of emus in the area. The interesting thing is that the emus are only about two thirds the height of the usual emus. I expect this is an adaptation to this extreme environment.
We then visited an aquarium to see and learn about the local aquatic life and watch sharks being fed. The boys were very impressed, (the children were too).
I was a little amused at the failure of planning in our caravan park.
Someone had forgotten that the cistern needs to be above the urinal and had put a window there instead. But as you can see there is always a solution!
