To Kalbarri

Heading north once more we stopped off at Oakabella Station near Northampton. This is a wonderfully preserved old station homestead and outbuildings with all the preserved artifacts from it's early days. The station had been in the same family for close to 100 years and because of the isolation much of it's history had been preserved in the buildings, equipment, furniture and tools that remained in place.

We toured the sheds, storerooms and homestead and the boys gave us a recital on the old piano in the sitting room.

From there we continued on to Kalbarrie and set up camp on a farm before setting out to see the coastal scenery south of the township. Unfortunately the weather was overcast but the ancient red rocks were still a magnificent sight, they would be stunning in the evening sunlight.
