Next stop was Cobbold Gorge. That required the navigation of about 60 km of corrugations. Again the accommodation was very acceptable for the remote location (460 km SW of Cairns). We had a cabin clearly assembled by a man!
It is in a wonderful location with permanent water in the otherwise dry landscape. All meals were served on a large roofed deck overlooking the lake. The Gorge itself is some distance away and accessed by 4WD coach. We first climbed to the top of the Gorge.A glass bottomed bridge had been installed so we could cross and walk down the other side. Once down, we clambered into electric barges that took us up the river.
